Tuning Temperature effect on tune

Yes Sir...the exact same number.
I'd bet ya a steak dinner I can make a believer out of you if you want to spend a day at my place some time tuning your rifle. It'll have to be a Mexican steak dinner, as that's the only place close by to eat in my small town.. that has steak anyway. Not arguing or any of that. Just a friendly invitation to come to my place and do some testing is all it is. I wish it was indoors but it's not. But it is a nice shooting/loading room attached to my shop, with a good concrete bench, heat and a/c. Just bring your rifle and ammo. Again, just an invite. Would enjoy meeting and shooting with you. At the very least, you'll see the basis for my tuning procedure firsthand. It's just a method but is way more methodical than many use.

His scores prove his technique works.
It may work but how does he know his scores couldn't be even better?

I've always been firmly in the set it and forget it crowd but, after lots of reading and conversation with others, I'm having more of an open mind lately. I'm still very much in the experimental stage and still use the same setting in a match but I'm not ruling out adjusting the tuner in or out a few clicks and seeing what happens on match day. If it doesn't seem to help I can always move it back

At ARA Indoor Nationals it was a little chilly in there on Sunday morning. One of the veteran shooters was doing pretty well and I overheard one of the guys asking if he adjusted his tuner. So I asked him what he changed. He said he typically moves his tuner in a couple clicks when the temp turns colder. Not sure if it helped him that day or not but he finished pretty high overall

A final post here, but some guys will appreciate it.
About a week back I got a call from an accomplished shooter, guy’s won about everything winnable……he shall remain unidentified.
Anyway, working with a new guy starting with groups.
He starts shooting groups until he got a group that looked just like Abraham Lincoln.
couple more groups until he got one that looked just like Bill Clinton……done, tuned. 😉

I agree. And since I do like to tinker I figure the next adjustment may be the best or better than the last. If not I go back to where I was.
Interesting thought about the temp. Yeah that building was brisk that one morning.

Yup, I would say his match record speaks for itself. over 12-months and 40 different lots of both Lapua & Eley. if he thought he needed to make any adjustments you would think he would have by now. FYI, all but the last match was done off a bipod and rear bag if I remember correctly. that's getting it done!

I love everybody but there's only so much time to go around and I offer this to people that at are both willing able and that I can depend on as well. If time allowed, I'd LOVE to do this with every single rf br shooter there is.

It's just an offer to shoot at a decent private range and see what has everybody up in arms about...either way. Not gonna beg. This is the last time I'll ask.

You in or not? Rain check is fine if it works for us both.

Mr. Mike, I hope that's a standing invite. May not happen anytime soon but someday I might just make it happen.

I'll eat most anything if it sits still long enough!! LOL!!

Thanks!!

34 matches off bipod and rear bag....7 matches with one piece rest. I wouldn't know how to act if I had more than one brick of any lot# of ammo. LOL!!

Win lose or draw....I'm having a blast!!

Thank you Sir!

Have yet to figure out the tuner, don't stray too far from where I think it's working. Might try to find out how far I can go next time at Prairie or Chickenfoot. Interest thread.

it is not really about the tuner, but understanding what you are seeing on the target at each setting you shoot at. it is not about the smallest group, but more of the most consistent group.

Jerry, fwiw, maybe unrelated, my recent posts are about a tuning method, not a specific tuner. TIA

I guess I am lost on that remark.

In regard to classifieds, Hozzie suggested that with so many new people coming around we are putting a few restrictions on posting for sale stuff with a min time on the forum and like 5 posts to stop potential scammers and people taking advantage. Anyone who wants to advertise commercially can buy a banner ad for $250/year. There are about 4 or 5 now. That about covers what the costs are for the year to keep this open. Nothing new or earth shattering or aimed at anyone.

No problem at all Jerry. Wasn't sure if it was totally unrelated or if you were addressing me with your post, indirectly. That's all sir. Glad it was unrelated. Thanks for all you do.
